Over the past years, I’ve been working at the intersection of research, healthcare, human rights, and lived experience.
My name is Nur Hidayati Handayani (Handa). I’m currently a PhD researcher at Trinity College Dublin and KU Leuven. We are developing a new Family App (HAP3 – Healthy Adaptation to Pregnancy, Postpartum, and Parenthood) to help families build healthy habits during pregnancy and after having a baby. The app will share ideas and tips about eating well, being active, sleeping better, and caring for emotional wellbeing. It aims to support healthy weight and prevent obesity during pregnancy and the first year after birth.
This work is also deeply personal in how it’s designed. I come into this project as a co-designer, working with families rather than designing for them. I also bring my background as a certified trauma counsellor, which means safety, respect, and emotional wellbeing are central to how this research is conducted.
To design something truly helpful and grounded in real experiences, I am looking for mothers or people who have given birth in the past 12 months and their partners (if they wish) to better understand their experiences of pregnancy and early parenthood. I want to learn about what makes it easier or harder to follow healthy habits during and after pregnancy.
What participation looks like:
– One session only: a small focus group (90–120 minutes) or a one-to-one interview (45–60 minutes).
– Online (Teams) or in person (community venue or Trinity College Dublin).
– Your participation will help inform the development of a supportive, evidence-based digital app for families.
– Taking part is entirely voluntary; you may skip any question or stop at any time.
– The session will be audio-recorded to ensure accurate notes. During transcription, names will be removed and replaced with a unique code to protect your privacy.
– Partners are welcome to join if they wish.
If you are 18+, living in Ireland, and comfortable participating in English, I would be very grateful to hear from you.
And if you work with parents, families, or community organisations, I’d truly appreciate your help in sharing this within your networks. You can reach out to me via email (nhandaya@tcd.ie) or text (0834884232).
Research becomes meaningful when it is shaped by real voices. Thank you for being part of that.
Sincerely yours,
Nur H. Handayani
